exos joins forces with gotshell a.k.a alessan main, the great ambassador of the colombia electronic music scene for the fifth release on x/oz. the pair met in colombia made the decision to make music together. over the next weeks they travelled together in colombia getting inspiration from the colombian spirits. the pair also teamed up with maayan nidam for a true jungle remix to go along with four original tracks with sounds that originate and fluctuate with the deep spiritual entities of colombia.

like all great music, it s difficult to pinpoint what this sounds like exactly - but toronto s block univers have cited their influences to include -boogie, house music, cold wave synths, gospel vocals, 808s and moog basslines- - so that would go some way to explaining the magic here. we tried to jam in as many of our favourites on this release as possible. more bang for your buck!

i am really proud to present this 3-tracker by victor ruiz on noir music. i think he is one of the best and most flawless techno producers right now and together we have carefully picked three tracks which perfectly showcases his production skills. i often write how i’ve worked with the artists on my labels to make their tracks reach their best potential. with victor i feel everything has been served to me on a silver platter as his productions are already perfectly crafted. although victor changed details right up until last minute, some of thesetracks also dates back 2 years, so he has had plenty of time to make everything sit and sound right. after a nine month break from releasing originals i feel truely honored that victor has chosen noir music as the label for this venture. both victor and i feel these three tracks compliment each other and at the same time showcase his skills to make great, diverse music. check the entire release. the music will speak for itself.

mood hut is very pleased to present a new record by ian wyatt, performing under the name local artist. hes one of the co-founders of mood hut, and you may remember him from his music on the proibito and rhythm section record labels. you may also have checked out his releases under the moniker slow riffs, including the gong bath 12inch from 2015. this wonderful record can be played at any time of the day or night and is also a great thing to play in the home or in the club. drums, bass, keyboards, as well as other sounds and outboard effects (including delay) are all present. the artwork was done by logan sturrock and local artist.

hitoshi murakami aka first floor debuts on local talk. opening track you dubn t know got a heavy bassline, deep chords and hypnotic textures and sounds like it was tailor-made for those dark and late after hours in the club. a righteous lesson in bumpin deep house... on the flip, delight , shows a different side. a piano driven house track with a great sense of melody that just keeps on keeping on - and that s a good thing.

after being absent for a while, glance is returning with a uncompromising authentic record on footjob. it recently has become quieter around the man who used to be a founding member of running back, but for this occasion he went and dug in his archives and came back with some beautiful old tracks, just to compile them in a classic, full of groove second footjob ep. as a bonus he finishes and ends the record with two downbeat sounding songs in reminiscence of his former genre crossing alter ego siro. so this goes out to all the realkeeper, oldschooler und newcats. glance is back on the map.

serendipity - defined as making discoveries or happy accidents - is the debut ep by liam van ryn. its a fitting description for the richly textured and cinematic four track collection that was the result of intensive and prolonged sessions goofing around on analogue gear. strictly limited 12 pressing this is a hell of a debut - one to watch for the future! the title track is the most immediately wonderful cut here, with choked arpeggios, clouds of caustic static and found scrapes as percussion. dj mag (8/10 ep review) early support from: nathan fake - interesting lush sounds lanark artefax - sounds great and is really coherent for a debut ep tessela - this is wicked man, really like that pitch1! based in hull, van ryn makes richly textured and layered, cinematic music that is both experimental and (mostly) electronic. i was interested in the way i could make the music sound slightly unnatural, or like it couldnt be played by a real musician, even though that was often the starting point, he explains. box.

dynamic dj and producer kölsch is set to release hal, his brand-new collaborative effort with canadian techno heavyweight tiga, on new label ipso. well known for his genre-defining cuts, danish producer kölsch has sold millions of records all over the world under his many different monikers, including seminal lp ‘1977’ and his widely acclaimed albums ‘1983’ & ‘1983’ & ‘1989’, with the latter including kölschs biggest track ‘grey’. a purveyor of deep and minimalist techno, tiga released his 3-track ‘stay cool’ ep earlier this year, with the game changing producer receiving a wealth of support from bbc radio 1 tastemaker pete tong on his last album, the 11-track ‘no fantasy required’ on counter records. made up of thunderous a-side ‘hal’ and a double b-side - containing the cosmic chord patterns of ‘first blood’ and the sinister build of grumbling ‘still so high’ - kölsch and tiga will also perform together b2b at offsonar this summer, with kölsch also scheduled to play a primetime headline set at belgian mega-festival, tomorrowland. “about a year ago i launched my label ipso”, said kölsch. “this summer ipso 002 is coming up, and it s a collab with none other than tiga. we spent a couple of great days in my copenhagen studio, and came up with 3 tracks i m really proud of. since the first release, i also started my ipso night in the legendary gewölbe club in cologne. i’ve had amazing nights there over the last 2 years and now it s time to expand.” having started his ipso residency in cologne, playing a mammoth 9 hour sets, kölsch has since expanded the brand to miami and watergate berlin, with further destinations in the pipeline. labelled as ‘the king of house” by annie mac, who added that kölsch, the ipso boss has garnered a reputation as one of dance music’s most talented producers, playing several ibiza dates over the summer, including ants, hi&#776,,,,,, ibiza’s ‘in the dark’ and circoloco. follow kompakt

for russian electronic music, mikhail chekalin is not only a major character, who has affected the scene’s establishment and development, but also a kind of symbolic figure. his music has been praised by many in the west - from journalists and critics of all kinds to frank zappa and karlheinz stockhausen, while in moscow chekalin’s name was excluded from the official cultural agenda for a long time: he was accused of propaganda of foreign pro-western aesthetics and up until the end of the 80’s wasn’t allowed to release his works or travel abroad. this, however, didn’t interfere with him recording dozens of innovative electronic compositions and contributing greatly to the development of unofficial soviet art in general - for example, providing sound design for the famous exhibitions of twenty moscow artists on malaya gruzinskaya or arranging the first audiovisual performances on a specially constructed light organ.
however, just like all great artists, mikhail himself prefers to focus not on personal achievements, but on creativity. i don’t have a biography - only a discography - this quote of the author may become an entry point of sorts into the compilation presented. this archival collection of works recorded within the period from 1978 to 1987 are chekalin’s multigenre experiments ranging from spatial music (in essence, ambient’s precursor) to more contemporary synthesizer and post-symphonic compositions.

longevity is promised to no one. we literally live to die, and even great masters perish without saying what they needed to say while they’re among the breathing. most of us leave this earth too full, and the grim reality is artistic careers are usually short-lived. chicago footwork godfather rp boo has fought long and hard to evacuate his mind of all he can throughout his long career, spanning over 30 years since cutting his teeth djing for the legendary house-o-matics.

the mbo theme represents one of the first hits on the early days of chicago house movement. now came back with the plus of the unreleased italian version (on the side b instead of the unnecessary radio cut). this project is being managed by mario boncaldo the same man behind some other great italo-disco projects like tullio de piscopo - stop bajon and plastic mode - baja imperial today is enriched with this unreleased edit produced by mario himself back in the days and availabel only on the studio tape this cut is more heavy and club oriented because there are no vocals so there is more space for synth and bassline parts, a must play for every set!

in the third of the ‘phobiza trilogy’ we are invited through the ethereal haze that separates our world from ramzi’s flourishing kindom. guided always by the deity’s music, we are given passage through the arcane archipelago that ramzi calls home, a place where animals, children and wild spirits share territories and cooperate in harmony in their plight to protect these ancient islands from the ceaseless threat of the great grey invasion. with the night closely following us, we are welcomed to these lands in dusk’s light, with the warm tones of ‘bibwel’ (featuring asaël robitaille on synth) carrying us across 11 different islets, all with unique climates, flora and fauna. after travelling for many a sunrise and sunset we take pause at mid day on ‘det calash’ isle (with some beats provided by regular fantasy). we ending our journey with a final sunset, this time on the foggy island of ‘warhasu’ (recorded on vancouver island with hashman deejay). amor fati (meaning “love of fate” or “love of one’s fate” in latin) comes as the inaugural release on phoebé’s own fati records and is the new nesting place for ramzi and its’ extended family. the record ends the ‘phobiza’ story, following ‘phobiza dia’ on total stasis and ‘phobiza noite’ on moodhut.

what do you get when you cross a frenchman, a dane, two irishmen and a swede? the debut various artists compilation from kyoku records, of course. gathering the producers who make up their whole discography thus far, the melbourne-based imprint are welcoming back dorsi plantar, sune, long island sound and ethyene (alongside folamour and marc bianco). translating from japanese to a befitting -dancing birds-, the odoru tori ep is revitalizing the elegant origami series for one last spin. the orizuru, hachidori, oumu and hakucho, that is, the paper crane, the hummingbird, the parrot and the swan are bringing the handmade array to a suitable conclusion. on the a side, the scandinavian connection is responsible for bringing some summer heat. dorsi plantar sheds his usual wistfulness for a slightly moodier, more functional track with -senorita lolita-, although still incorporating some of that playful sampling he s now come to be known for. -californicate- from sune takes a more laidback approach and channels the breezy and carefree atmosphere of the coastal golden state. on the flip side, long island sound follow the same recipe that made -delusions- such a big hit with the intricate sampling and eloquent arrangement of -ease in-. to top things off, ethyene, with the help of folamour and marc bianco, close out the record with a groovy, vocal number that sees them employ their signature french touch formula to great effect on the simply titled -good-.

under cover for many years, this affie yusuf two tracker finally sees the light of day on the acclaimed mindyourhead imprint. comes on a generally deep green, mixed colour marbled 12’’ vinyl. affie yusuf paved the way uk acid house scene and so much more, releasing techno and acid throughout his career. mindyourhead records recognises that sometimes you need to look a little bit into the past to move ahead and has re-launched the label with this vinyl only release. ‘parrot soup’ is a fine example of just how a track title can have absolutely no relevance to the music whatsoever. this is a lovingly constructed example of how to convey images with sound, this music renders images brimming with joy and loss, icy cold chills and the warmth of the first rays of sun on a spring morning. tight, punchy drums with crisp 808 snares and driving toms lovingly complimented with dream-like pad sequences, soul searching strings and lush bassline form a quality crossover track that will appeal to lovers of many styles of techno and house. ‘something special’ is on a different tip, more driving and direct in style with the ‘everybody…’/ ‘something special’ vocal samples put to great use (need to be heard in context!) and that essential marching ‘affie acid’ bassline. the lead follows a similar pattern to the acid but pulls your head in a slightly different direction leaving the listener suitably twisted!! this proper ‘party acid’ has just the right level of balls to destroy a dancefloor without scaring off the faint of heart. lovely work affie!!

apollo is proud to welcome paul frick to the fold. frick is a berlin-born music composer primarily known as one part of the group brandt brauer frick. stunningly despite a 20+ year history of making music “second yard botanicals” is his debut album. with bbf keeping frick inspired and busy since 2009, other ideas had piled up until a temporary break allowed him to fully dive into them - “while it took so long until i made my first album, it took about two months once i started.”

last spotted tomfooling as tryck & ton with edvin edvinsson, and prior to that as tiedye on mike simonettis italians do it better imprint, subversive swede anton klint makes his debut on simonettis latest label 2mr with two more vitally trippy, heavily dub-informed originals. ‘mun chugs at a stately 107. rippling in places, squiggling in others, theres an unabashed fx weirdness bubbling and popping over the insistent shimmering dubwise groove. tweaking, freaking but running at such a smooth temper theres space between the chaos, anton is balancing some heavily hypnotic alchemy here. ‘strupe takes things even lower and slower. a dusty bluesy chugger, unhurried-yet-relentlessly building with a great sense of cosmic drama, listen and marvel as more elements are precision introduced throughout the seven minute trip. a masterclass in modern day honkytonk. remix-wise were thrusted into the later hours with a technoid twist from andre laos. maintaining antons originals trippy charm and measured pace but re-amping it with grittier foundation, teasing risers and an insurgent synth strike, its the perfect complement to one of 2mrs most singular releases to date. open wide.

aussteiger is a berlin based german dj / producer. he runs the dub disco label in berlin and dj’s around the world. zusammenkunft is his debut album released on copenhagen’s music for dreams. once upon a time a golden boy came back from the shadows. rumors were told that he once left the big city in a time where the music scene and clubs were dominated by cold music and average beats. he left behind civilisation, living withdrawn in the woody mountains of a covert place. from there on people talked about him as aussteiger. connected to the nature and deeply rooted in the harmonic essence, aussteiger became a part of the great whole. in a full moon illuminated clear night while experimenting with various unique herbs he accidentally found a recipe to create warm and ravishing music. he firmly believes that music is his infinite source to gather strength and positive energy after years of strengthening himself and shaping vibrant sounds aussteiger decided to share his delightful music with the world. he returned from his retreat in order to enchant the music lovers all over the world with his feel good approach and supernatural sounds. coming back to the city, he also co-founded the awesome dub disco label with his buddy serj nosé.

texas native demarkus lewis is up next on the great d3 elements label. this time, demarkus brings his signature diverse house style on this release, which features tracks from his mental notes album that only came out digitally in 2011. luckily for lovers of vinyl, d3 is putting out three of the gems from that release. first is the upfront house of without pause that is full of demarkus bumping drums, masterful combination of spacey, detroit style electronics and swirling chords that will get anyone onto the dancefloor. lady in pink also features some wonderful spacey chords, but is a more downtempo, broken beat type of affair, resplendent with computer bleeps. over onto the b side, demarkus takes us into a more spiritual and deep territory, with behind closed doors (afro main mix). the afro rhythms coupled with eman s spoken words turn this into a track that do wonders with a heaving, sweaty dance floor in the early hours. another winner for the d3 elements label.

this is the debut release on noir music from brazilian k.a.l.i.l. we have been working quite some time to perfect this first release from him on the label and give it the edge needed to stand out. after tons of road-testing and going back and forth with production ideas i am now happy to have 2 perfect tracks ready from k.a.l.i.l. that really showcase his super solid techno sound and production flair. “involved” (co-produced with any mello) is a quite simple trip with any’s spoken word in center of industrial elements wobling it and out. this track works really well in the clubs because of its on point minimalism, the high intensity stacatto synths and the catchy vocal line from any. it’s not easy to do big tracks without big basslines – but that’s what k.a.l.i.l. and any mello truely achieved with this one. “revolved” is a track i signed already last year and since then k.a.l.i.l. has been perfecting everything about the track from small details to bigger arrangement improvements. this track has that big bassline that sits right in your face. it also has the right build for those peaktime moments in the clubs. i have been playing “revolved” a lot over the past months and people go crazy for those big bass drops. we are honored to have another great producer join the noir music family and proud to have another belter of a release ready for you.
